Moebius Models has been sold to Larry Thompson and TomMacomber. Larry and Tom are also the owners of Pegasus Hobbies in Montclair, CA. Moebius will continue to be a company separate from Pegasus.
Frank Winspur founded Moebius Models in 2006, offering a wide variety of plastic model kits including monster figures, super heroes from DC and Marvel comics, and science fiction space craft from Battlestar Galactica, Lost in Space, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Dave Metzner and Bob Plant will continue to work for Moebius Models.
Frank posted on the Moebius Models Facebook page: “Things will go on as scheduled. Nothing is being cancelled. All licensing is in the process of being transferred.” He added, “The company is left in good hands, Tom and Larry from Pegasus are taking over the majority share. I’ll have a fraction, no big deal. But as most all of you know they’ve been in this industry for a long time. They know what they’re doing, and I’ll be here to make sure it all goes smooth.”
I’ve talked to both Frank and Larry about the sale and transition of the company. Larry has a lot of plans to build on existing product lines, including Star Trek, 2001, and DC Comics. Look for some new kit announcements in the future.
Frank is selling the company for several reasons. After 12 years, he had pretty much done what he could do with the business. He produced a lot of great models in that time frame. He also sited his own health issues, as well as the fact that his parents are getting older. It was time to let someone else take the company to the next level.
At CultTVman, we want to wish Larry and Tom all the best with the company. We know they are strong supporters of the modeling hobby and our little niche of science fiction, fantasy and monster models. Frank has put the company in the hands of two guys that should really be able to grow the company. I also want to thank Frank, along with his parents Joanne and Matty, for all they have done for this hobby. We’ve been given the opportunity to build so many great models because of them. When Frank launched Moebius Models, our part of the hobby was pretty dead. His efforts revitalized and saved it. Thank you my friend.

PEGASUS HOBBIES OWNERS TO ASSUME OWNERSHIP OF MOEBIUS MODELS
Model kit producer’s product output to remain unchanged
[Glenwood, FL, March 1, 2018] As of March 1st, Tom and Larry, owners of Pegasus Hobbies will assume ownership of Moebius Models. Moebius will remain an independent company and will continue production on its popular line of plastic model kits and other products. Original Moebius founder and president Frank Winspur will remain with the company as a minority partner and will still be involved in guiding Moebius from a creative standpoint.
Moebius Models was formed in 2008 as a division of Doll & Hobby Inc. and has released licensed model kits from properties such as Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost in Space, Battlestar Galactica, the 1966 Batman television series, Warner Bros. movies Batman V Superman, The Dark Knight, and Interstellar, Marvel superheroes such as Iron Man, Universal’s classic monster characters and Fantastic Voyage, as well as automobile and truck models. Recently Moebius has produced licensed model kits from 2001: A Space Odyssey and will soon launch a line of Star Trek kits from the recent theatrical movies produced by J.J. Abrams, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond.
Moebius Models’ art director Bob Plant and new product manager Dave Metzner will remain in their current positions at the company and Moebius’ upcoming product releases will remain unchanged through the transition.
